What is Vanish Mode on Messenger?
Messenger has recently added a feature called Vanish Mode. It allows users to send disappearing messages. Once it is turned, all the messages in a chat (You’ve sent) will be automatically disappeared after the recipient reads them. Also, if the mode is enabled and you or the recipient takes a screenshot of the conversation, both will be notified. For your information, it only works for one-on-one chats, not group chats.

Enable Vanish Mode on Messenger
By default, Facebook Messenger’s Vanish Mode is set to Off. You need to enable or turn it on using these simple steps: Open the Messenger app and then chat. iPhone users can simply swipe up and hold it for a second and then let it go to enable the Vanish Mode. However, Android users can do the same but alternatively, the best way to enable the Vanish Mode is to tap the name of the person at the top of the chat. Scroll down and tap Vanish Mode under the Privacy & Support section. Then enable the toggle and you are good to go.
iPhone users
Go ahead and open the Messenger app. Then go to conversation. Now swipe and hold, and you will see the “Swipe up to turn on Vanish Mode” option. Then let it go. Done, you have successfully enabled the Vanish Mode on Messenger on iPhone.
Android users
There are two methods to enable or turn on the Vanish Mode. Open the Messenger app, open a conversation and swipe up for a second then let go. That is an easy and quick method. Alternatively, you can tap the name of the person at the top of the chat. Then scroll down and tap Vanish Mode option. Turn on the toggle next to Vanish Mode and done. Can you tell if someone is using Vanish Mode on Messenger?
Yes, because if a person sends you Vanish Mode message, you will get a notification. Thus you can tap on it to enter the Vanish mode conversation. This clarifies that the person will know (and can see) that you are using or sending Vanish Mode messages. Even if one of you takes a screenshot of the conversation, Messenger will notify both of you at the bottom of the conversation. Disable Vanish Mode on Messenger
Both iPhone and Android users can easily disable or turn off the Vanish Mode on Messenger. Here are the simple steps: Tap the “Turn Off Vanish Mode” at the of the chat or Go to the bottom of the chat and swipe up. You will see “Swipe up to turn off mode” and then let it go. Done, you can easily disable the Vanish Mode on Facebook Messenger. Alternatively in the chat, tap the name of the users at the top. Then scroll and tap Vanish Mode. Why is Vanish Mode not working on Messenger?
You can easily fix it if the Vanish Mode is not working on Messenger. Simply update your Facebook Messenger to the latest version and clear your phone’s cache files. Then restart your device, for sure you will see the feature. However, if the Vanish Mode is still not there, then it’s not yet available in your country/region.
