Turn On Dark Mode on New Facebook
In 2023 millions of Facebook users started getting the new Facebook design. It looks amazing and has tons of new features as well as a brand-new UI. Moreover, we have the official dark mode option to enable. Here is how to turn on the official dark mode in the new Facebook design:
- Click your Profile photo at the top right.
- Now click Display & Accessibility option.
- Select an On, Off, or Automatic.
However, there could be more than one reason you still don’t have the new FB design. In that case, you can simply follow any of the below procedures in order to implement dark mode on Facebook.
Method #2: Enable Dark Mode on Facebook PC
To be honest, I don’t know about other browsers, but I am using the Google Chrome browser for years. There is an extension available on the Chrome Web Store. You can easily get the extension, install it, and enable it at night for Facebook, and other sites as well. To enable the night mode on Facebook on the PC:
- Open Chrome browser.
- Download and install the Dark Mode extension from Chrome Web Store.
- Now visit Facebook.com on your PC.
- You will see a button at the top in Chrome.
- Click on that button to activate the night mode for Facebook.com.
That is it, you are good to go, now you can visit any site even Messenger.com, and use Facebook and Messenger both with black UI. However, the choice is totally yours. It is a great and trusted extension of the Chrome browser available for both MAC and Windows users, all you need is a Google Chrome browser, install and enable the extension, and done.
Update: Enable Dark Mode in Facebook App
Finally, Facebook has received the official dark mode for Android and iOS devices. You can simply update the Facebook app to get the dark mode feature in it. Then follow these steps to enable it:
Updated: Open the Facebook app and tap the menu icon at the top right. Now tap Settings and Privacy then tap Dark Mode. Set the option to ON and this way can enable the official dark mode in your Facebook app for Android and iPhone devices.
Enable Night Mode on Facebook Android
Official, there is no update on the night mode for Facebook in the official app. But you can use the Chrome browser on your Android and enable a dark theme. Then you can open any site including Facebook.com and you will see the dark UI. Alternatively, you can use the UC browser to activate the Night Mode on the UC browser and then go to Facbeook.com and you will Facebook in the dark theme or black user interface.
Alternatively, give a try to use Facebook alternative apps such as Maki and Friendly for Facebook. These apps are available in the Google Play Store and they are completely free. You can go ahead and install these apps, activate the night mode from the app’s settings and you are good to go. Moreover, these have almost a similar feature to the Facebook official app.
Get Facebook Dark Mode on Chrome Browser for Android:
The first thing you need to do is to enable or unlock the black theme on Google Browser and Facebook.com will automatically adopt the black theme. It is easy to do so:
- Open Chrome on your Android phone.
- Type in chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark and hit Go.
- Now You will see the first option “Force Dark Mode for Web Contents”.
- Tap the Default tab and set the option as Enabled.
- Restart the Chrome browser.
- Go to Facebook.com and you will Facebook in the Night Mode.
You can always go back and disable the option whenever you want. However, the choice is totally yours if you want to leave it as it is. I don’t how it sounds but for your information, you may visit other sites and those sites will be also in the Night Mode. If it is annoying to you then go ahead and disable it. If you are using Facebook on your Android phone using a web browser and you need dark mode then I will suggest you use the UC browser.
Get Facebook Dark Mode on UC Browser for Android:
On the UC browser, there is nothing you need to do just enable the default option there. All you have to download and install the UC browser on your Android phone and then follow the below steps:
- Open the UC browser on your Android phone.
- Tap the Menu option in the middle.
- Now tap the Night option.
- Visit Facbeook.com and you will see Facebook in the Black user interface.
The Night option is easy to enable and disable. All is I can suggest using the UC browser if you are using it for Facebook only instead of Chrome. You can stop using these browsers on your Android for Facebook dark mode once you get the official dark mode on the official Facebook app.
Alternative Methods to Enable Facebook Dark Mode
As I mentioned earlier in this guide, I have told you that there is no official way to enable Facebook dark mode in the official app. However, you can follow the above methods for using Facebook in the web browser on your Android device.
There are alternative apps available in the Google Play Store to try out. The apps are totally and most trusted ones. These are trusted because of over a million downloads and an average rating of 4.3 in the Play Store. Yet, no one has commented on privacy and related issue while using the apps. The one is Maki and the second is Friendly for Facebook. Simply any of these apps and activate the Night mode from their settings. Facebook will adopt the black theme you can enjoy using Facebook at night.
However, these apps have tons of other features such, download videos, stories, and photos from Facebook, etc. Trust me these have almost a similar feature as a Facebook official app does and you will love these apps.
